Enhanced Road Safety Enforcement Initiative – 2008 Annual Report
The Enhanced Road Safety Enforcement Initiative (ERSEI) establishes road-safety priorities and dedicates police officers to target dangerous driving behaviours using evidence-based strategies. This report has data on the 2008 operations of ERSEI programs and shows the broad benefits of targeted traffic enforcement, such as a 15 per cent fewer traffic-related fatalities in 2008 compared to 2007.
Illegal Movement of Firearms in British Columbia
The report, The Illegal Movement of Firearms in British Columbia [PDF], reviews the scope of illegal use of firearms, and makes recommendations to improve regulation and enforcement.
Civil Forfeiture Office
The ministry Civil Forfeiture Office (CFO) is responsible for administering the Civil Forfeiture Act. The act allows the government to apply to civil court for the forfeiture of assets that have been either acquired with the proceeds of unlawful activity, or used as instruments of unlawful activity. Assets that have been ordered forfeit by the courts are liquidated and used to administer the act and to provide victim compensation and crime prevention/remediation grants to communities.
