AIR 2 LAUNCHED

RICHMOND – Air 2, the second police helicopter to take to the skies over Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley, will double the ability of police to apprehend criminals, said Solicitor John van Dongen, announcing the new chopper at an event in Richmond. Since becoming operational in June, 2006, Air 1 has assisted with nearly 800 arrests for serious offences such as robbery, break-and-enters, gang-related offences, border runners, drug trafficking and even homicide.

The flight crew of traffic safety helicopters Air 1 and Air 2 joined Solicitor General John van Dongen and others at the official launch.
