As Robson Street bustled with Saturday shoppers, Solicitor General John van Dongen was joined by Burnaby North MLA Richard T. Lee as the Province banned expiry dates and fees on most gift cards, effective Nov. 1. The new legislation and regulations will ensure consumers who buy gift cards get what they pay for - for example,
by requiring businesses to fully inform consumers at the time of purchase how gift cards can be redeemed, used and replaced.
