Statistical Reports

The BC Coroners Service works in a real-time database environment and therefore statistics for a given year are subject to change until all coroners' cases from that year are complete. Reports on this page are updated and refreshed periodically, and new reports are added to this page when needed.

The BC Coroners Service tracks the town or city in which a death occurred. However, we are unable to track the specific area or district within a town or city (e.g., the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver) in which a death occurred.

Requesting Statistics: If you are interested in statistics that are not available on our website, you may request them by sending an e-mail to the BC Coroner's Service.

Death Review Panel Reports and Information

Child Death (18 years and under)

The Child Death Review Unit (CDRU) of the BC Coroners Service reviews the deaths of all children age 18 and under in B.C. The intent of these reviews is to better understand how and why children die, and to use those findings to prevent other deaths and improve the health, safety and well-being of all children in British Columbia. For reports and information see the Child Death Review Unit.

Adult Death (19 years and older)
